Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive survey on anomaly and violence detection in smart surveillance systems using YOLOv8 and related deep learning techniques. It highlights the importance of real-time monitoring, reviews existing research contributions, and compares state-of-the-art approaches in anomaly and violence recognition. The study also discusses key challenges, advantages, limitations, and future research directions to support the development of efficient and reliable surveillance applications.
