Type: article
Abstract: The present study examines the influence of financial education on women beneficiaries of the “Mujer es Poder” programme, focusing on how knowledge of financial planning, saving, investment, and debt management affects the administration of the economic resources received. Through the use of surveys and interviews, the participants’ level of financial literacy was assessed. The findings reveal that 60% of them lack financial training, which restricts their ability to manage their finances effectively. Most expressed an interest in receiving training to improve the management of their economic resources. The methodology involved collecting information through both quantitative and qualitative instruments, followed by an analysis that identified priority areas for designing an educational programme tailored to the specific needs of the beneficiaries. The main results indicate that, despite the economic difficulties faced by many participants, there is a clear intention to acquire financial skills that could improve their economic situation in both the short and long term. Furthermore, it was identified that financial education functions as a strategic resource for poverty reduction. This work highlights the importance of incorporating financial education within social support programmes, suggesting that training in this field can strengthen the economic autonomy of beneficiaries, facilitating informed decision-making and a more efficient use of the resources provided.
