Abstract: The main intention of this study was to assess urban renewal on the livelihoods of displeased peoples in Kolfe Keraniyo Woreda 04, 05 and 07 of Addis Ababa. To achieve these intention the study designed objectives. The study designed descriptive method in which questionnaire, interview, observation and focus group discussion is used. According to the findings of the study the large numbers of displaces mentioned that they faced the problem of finance, shopping center, joblessness, transport, adequate housing, working space and affordable condominium price. Government does anything to alleviate these problems except giving an access to electricity and water supply. All social and neighborhood activities were not carried on because of the problem of knowing each other, departure from the previous neighborhoods, and inconvenient building design for this purpose, personal problems, economic imbalance and fear. Most displaces feel uncomfortable in the new resettlement sites because of being strange in the new area, lack of sustainable economic opportunities, and deficiency of infrastructures, problems in coordination with government officials, crime and lack of freedom as they had in their original homestead. Most of the respondents responded that, quality house, good residential area, reasonable compensation, available infrastructures were expectations of the displaced before displacement. Based on findings it was recommended that the Addis Ababa city government must consider the current situation of displaced peoples which are found in every sub-cities of the city to alleviate the problem of finance, joblessness, transport, adequate housing, working space and affordable condominium price. The great attention and action should be done by the city government of Addis Ababa and FDRE to improve the distribution of basic infrastructures such as schools, banks, health centers, police stations, telecommunications and post offices. The government should provide training to create job opportunities for displaces especially in the field of construction, creating an opportunity to have a share in the project and organizing a business union and grant loan for the resettles to do their own business in new resettlement site.
