Visual Connections: A New Category for a Research Journal
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: The talk will introduce a new submission category for Hypothesis: Research Journal for Health Information Professionals. This category, titled Visual Connections, encourages interdisciplinary dialogue by highlighting the intersections of health sciences, the humanities, and the arts. It showcases visual works that draw on historical, archival, or imaginative sources to inform and inspire discussion. Authors are encouraged to experiment with visual storytelling to convey research findings, concepts, or reflections. Ideal for submissions that combine scholarship with visual communication, this category welcomes a wide range of formats, including posters featuring historically inspired or archival imagery, digitized or born-digital special collections, graphic or narrative visuals used in research dissemination, infographics, and research studies best communicated through visual formats. In this presentation, the Associate Editor of Visual Connections will guide attendees through the development of the category and provide an overview of the submission review criteria and process. Attendees will gain an understanding of the value of engaging in interdisciplinary exploration through visual forms.
