TrailBlazer Tags: Temporary Marker Systems for Locating Missing Adventure Travellers

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Wilderness emergency responses are getting more complicated; thus, rescue and safety organizations need fresh tech to help rescuers get to incidents quickly and successfully. TrailBlazer Tags mix modern detection tech with full data tools to tackle core search and rescue problems. The system uses several detection methods: optical-fluorescent markers, radio frequency ID, and heat-sensitive infrared coatings. It links these to a cloud setup for processing data and managing operations in real time. Smart computer programs combine sensor data and make predictions to spot tags in various conditions, like forests or oceans. The tags are made using materials that break down naturally, which helps safeguard both privacy and the environment. Tests show the tags find people faster than old-fashioned visual searches, especially in rough areas where normal ways don't work well. The plan to use these tags includes lab work, field tests, and making sure they follow rules so they can be used in different places. Connecting them to big data systems allows for unified control, automated tasks, and smart use of resources based on environmental info. Future developments aim to improve the tag's materials to last longer and add machine learning to better understand signals and patterns.
