Abstract: Fauna and communities of birds in forests near the town of Myropil (Zhytomyr region). - O.V. Ghryb. - Berkut. 34 (1). 2025. - The study area is located in the southwest of Zhytomyr region. Data were collected during 2008–2024. Current ornithofauna of the study area includes 121 species of birds, 15 of which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. In the past, there were 4 more species. During the breeding period, 103 species of birds were registered, of which 95 species are breeding or probably breeding, and 8 species – non-breeding. 42 species have been registered in wintering period. Another 9 species were recorded only during migration and nomadic periods. Population density of birds in breeding period was 1206,9 ind./km2, in wintering – 489,2 ind./km2. In breeding period, it was higher in oak forests, in wintering period – in mixed forests. Chaffinch dominated in the bird community during the breeding period, and Goldcrest, Blue Tit and Nuthatch – in wintering period. [Ukrainian].
