Ventilation factors influencing roadway thermal field and optimization

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The increasing extraction of deep mineral resources has worsened the issue of high-temperature thermal damage in tunneling roadways, presenting substantial hazards to miners' well-being and equipment integrity. A three-dimensional incompressible turbulence model was developed to analyze a tunneling roadway in Hubei Province, utilizing the Realizable k-ε equation to characterize turbulence effects. The study employed FLUENT software to simulate the impact of various ventilation parameters, including air temperature, velocity, and position, on the temperature distribution. The model’s reliability is confirmed via field verification (relative error < 3%) and grid independence analysis, where a medium grid with a size of 0.1 m is adopted. Single-factor experiments indicate that the supply air temperature has the most significant impact on the temperature field. Multi-factor orthogonal test optimization yields the optimal parameter combination, which includes a ventilation temperature of 16°C, a ventilation velocity of 14 m/s, and a ventilation position of 6 m. In practical terms, the 6-meter ventilation position refers to the distance from the air duct outlet to the tunneling working face. This study presents a scientific framework for preventing and managing heat damage while optimizing ventilation systems in deep mines, showcasing practical engineering utility and academic originality.
