Integrated Dental Patient-Centred Care: Recent Advancements and Future Trends- A Review.
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT Integrated Dental Patient-Centred Care (IDPCC) changes the way dentists work by making patients the centre of care and connecting oral health with systemic and behavioral health systems to address the bidirectional oral-systemic health nexus. This method focuses on shared decision-making, working together with other professionals, and making sure everyone has equal access to improve results and patient satisfaction. Recent improvements (2023–2025) include AI-driven diagnostics for personalized treatment, teledentistry for better access, 3D printing for custom restorations, and interoperable electronic health records (EHRs) for smooth coordination between medical and dental care. These new ideas have cut expenses, made diagnoses up to 110% more accurate, and increased access to care in areas that don't have enough of it. Future trends (2026–2030) include more integration through AI-powered predictive analytics, comprehensive care models that include mental health, mobile dental units, and eco-friendly biomaterials that are good for the environment. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) will change the way patients learn and providers train, and they could improve interprofessional abilities by 25%. There are still problems with data protection and training the workforce, but IDPCC's growth is in line with global health goals for universal coverage. This means that care will be more proactive, fair, and patient-centered in the future.
