Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article focuses on the study of subjective well-being from the perspective of women. The aim of the study was to determine the level of life satisfaction among rural women in Poland. The level of life satisfaction among women in rural and urban areas was determined and compared with life satisfaction among men. Socio-economic factors associated with women’s life satisfaction were identified using the chi-square independence test. Data from the European Social Survey (ESS) Round 11 (2023) and Round 2 (2004) were used. The study showed that life satisfaction among women in rural areas is higher than among men and that life satisfaction has increased over time. Factors associated with life satisfaction among rural women were found to be health, institutional trust, and living with a partner. Subjective well-being in rural areas from a gender perspective should be systematically monitored in order to achieve a higher level of well-being across society.
