Crisis and Transformation: A Quantitative Analysis of the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Global Animation Industry

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The global animation industry finds itself in a historical conjuncture defined by a profound paradox. On the one hand, the economic data describe a sector in robust financial health, characterized by steady growth and optimistic projections that confirm its status as a pillar of the entertainment industry. On the other hand, a picture emerges of growing precariousness and crisis for the human capital that constitutes its creative and productive heart. This divergence between the economic trajectory of the sector and the employment stability of its workforce is not a cyclical fluctuation, but a structural misalignment catalyzed and accelerated by the pervasive advent of generative artificial intelligence (AI). This report aims to quantitatively analyze the multiple dimensions of this transformation, examining how AI is simultaneously acting as an engine of economic growth and as an agent of profound disruption for the sector's work models, wage dynamics and ethical-legal balances.
