Systematic Literature Review: The Mediating Role of Green Employment in Promoting Decent Work in BRICS+ Countries
Year: 2025
Type: review
Abstract: The BRICS+ countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and new members Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, represent over 40% of the global population and a significant share of GDP, driving economic growth while facing environmental and labour challenges. This study examines green employment's role in fostering decent work, as defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), which emphasises fair wages, safe conditions, social protection, and personal development. Green employment, spanning renewable energy, waste management, and sustainable agriculture, offers a pathway to balance economic progress with environmental sustainability.
