A Comparative Study of Chakras and Nadis: Foundations of Subtle Energy Systems
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper explores the foundational aspects of the chakras and nadis as understood in the yogic tradition, highlighting their symbolic, physiological, and experiential qualities. Beginning with the Mooladhara (root) chakra through the Sahasrara (crown), and extending into the three primary nadis (energy channels), this study frames the chakras as archetypal models of human development, balance, and transcendence. The analysis situates these systems in conversation with earlier research on the Sefirot as a conceptual framework for hierarchical energy decay (Burwell II, 2025). Both models—the Sefirot and the chakras—are shown to operate as layered maps of consciousness, energy, and human evolution, suggesting convergences between mystical traditions and modern systems thinking.
