Educação em Astronomia pela Cotidianidade: : Potencialidades do Município de Quinta do Sol - Paraná

Abstract: The municipality of Quinta do Sol - PR has several political elements that refer to astronomy, such as its nomenclature, its public roads, its flag, coat of arms and anthem. In this sense, it is thought that the daily life of the municipality offers subsidies for an Astronomy Education that starts from the context of the students. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the possibilities of Astronomy Education in the context of the municipality of Quinta do Sol - Paraná. Thus, this research is qualitative in nature, using a documentary research approach whose data analysis is aided by Paulo Freire's theory of Liberating Education, tracing dialogues with Astronomy and its teaching. We found 32 names of places in the municipality that relate to the theme, as well as the visual elements present in the Flag and Anthem. This figure corresponds to around 76% of the total (32/42, including the name of the town and its roads). This data, together with the discussions developed throughout this work, provides support for an interdisciplinary and intercultural political-pedagogical approach from a critical-emancipatory perspective. It is essential to return to the importance of the environment for education, striving to improve teaching.
