Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the antimicrobial resistance patterns of Staphylococcus spp.isolated from companion dogs visiting animal hospitals due to ear or skin diseases to provide basic data for the establishment and evaluation of antimicrobial resistance policies in OneHealth.Staphylococcal infections are treated with antibiotics, the continued use of inappropriate antibiotics causes bacterial resistance, making it difficult to treat, and inducing the use of another antibiotic.Companion animals and owners share the same bacteria and antimicrobial resistant bacteria can be transmitted from companion animals to owners.A total of 104 cases of Staphylococci were isolated from 294 dogs, followed by 59 cases of S. pseudintermedius (56.7%), 31 cases of S. schleiferi (29.8%), 14 cases of S. aureus (13.5%).Antimicrobial susceptibility test results showed benzylpenicillin showed the highest resistance (71.2%) in 74 of 104 cases, followed by tetracycline 59.6%, kanamycin 55.8%, erythromycin 43.3%, chloramphenicol 38.5%, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole 35.6%, oxacillin 31.7%.66.3% of the isolates were multidrug-resistant exhibiting resistance to three or more antibiotics.33 of the 104 cases (31.7%) were found to be MRS (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus spp.) resistant to oxacillin, of which the MRSP (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius) appearance rate increased slightly compared to 2019.In order to suppress the increase in antimicrobial resistant bacteria, it seems necessary to systematically manage antibiotics used in animal hospitals in addition to the selection of AST-based antibiotics.
