Time Crystals as Discrete Delta-f Phase-Locking in Driven Resonance Media

Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: This document upgrades the earlier USP Field Theory time-crystal note into the new msf system as msf:52700 v1.0. In mainstream physics, experimentally realized time crystals are non-equilibrium driven or effectively driven many-body systems that display a robust subharmonic response: the measured order parameter repeats after an integer number of drive periods rather than simply following the applied drive. USP Field Theory interprets this behavior as discrete Delta-f temporal corridor locking: a driven resonance medium repeatedly returns to a compatible phase configuration after n_sub drive cycles. The central claim is not that time crystals prove USP Field Theory. Rather, time-crystal platforms provide a controlled laboratory testbed for drive-response mismatch, phase rigidity, many-body locking, decoherence, heating, and thermal or drive-induced noise. Version 1.0 defines operational USP time-crystal proxies, including: Delta f_TC = f_drive / n_sub D_TC = Delta f_TC / Gamma_eff L_TC = phase-locking index M_TC = |f_drive / n_sub - f_mode| The document also includes a worked numerical example, platform-specific experimental protocols, predeclared statistical decision rules, noise and heating modeling, uncertainty propagation, and a simulation matrix spanning Floquet chains, open-system Lindblad dynamics, and classical driven-lattice analogues. This paper does not replace Floquet theory, quantum many-body physics, spin-chain models, magnon-condensate theory, superconducting-qubit dynamics, cold-atom modeling, or standard condensed-matter descriptions. USP supplies a compatibility-first geometric interpretation layer that must reproduce standard time-crystal signatures before any residual claim is added. Core statement: A time crystal is not a perpetual-motion device. In this framework, it is interpreted as a driven resonance medium whose phase structure returns after multiple drive cycles through stable temporal corridor locking.
