Role of Molecular Signaling in Vestibular Dystrophy: an Exhaustive Review

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The vestibular dystrophy is a clinical condition associated with the laxity of the vestibular system, causing symptoms such as vertigo, imbalance, and spatial disorientation. While structural and physical causes have been largely studied, recent research has highlighted the importance of molecular signal in pathogenesis and potential recovery of vestibular disorders. The objective of this review is to widely discuss the molecular routes stuck in vestibular dystrophy, including inflammatory signaling, oxidative stress, ion channel regulation, neurotrophic factors, genetic effects and epigenic amendments. A better understanding of these mechanisms provides new approaches for diagnosis and targeted therapeutic approach.
