Abstract: The poets of the Naturalistic Era have understood, investigated and described nature clearly. Since they lived in the natural environment, the natural background is often included in the subject matter. Among them, they also highlight socio-ecological records. Only a human society that preserves the ecology will prosper. The chronicles have recorded how the people of that time preserved the ecology and how they lived by destroying it. The people of the Sangam literary era, who lived in the ‘Naturalistic Era’, played an important role in preserving the ecology. It can be seen that they adapted their lifestyle according to the ecology. They carried out various ecological activities such as soil conservation, water conservation, development of ecosystems, cleanliness of the place, and personal cleanliness. This article aims to examine the agricultural technological factors that cultivated the soil resources of ancient Tamils.
