Synergistic Advancements in Drug Discovery, Delivery and Rehabilitation: Integrating Artificial Intelligence, Novel Formulation Strategies, and Phytopharmaceutical Innovations

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT: Pharmaceutical research is rapidly evolving through the integration of computational drug design, advanced formulations, nanomedicine, and phytopharmaceuticals. Conventional drug discovery is limited by high costs and long timelines, whereas artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) accelerate target identification, formulation optimization, and personalized therapy. Novel delivery platforms, including 3D-printed tablets, sustained-release systems, nanogels, and microparticles, enhance bioavailability, stability, and patient adherence. Phytoconstituents contribute additional therapeutic potential, offering antioxidant and disease-modulating effects, particularly when combined with nanocarriers. Importantly, the synergy between pharmaceutical innovations and rehabilitation strategies, especially in audiology and speech-language pathology (BASLP), ensures medical advances translate into functional recovery. Examples include combining pharmacological modulation of neuroplasticity with speech therapy or applying intratympanic drug delivery alongside auditory training. This review highlights emerging trends and future directions, underscoring a patient-centered framework where AI, novel formulations, nanomedicine, and phytopharmaceuticals collectively drive precision and sustainable healthcare.
