Type: article
Abstract: Numerous improvements have been made in the field of project management, particularly in the Non-governmental industry. But many Non-governmental projects around the world continue to underperform and fall short of expectations. This study was sought to assess determinant of Project performance in non-governmental organizations in Dire Dawa. The study employed descriptive research design with a study population that includes Executive management, project managers, project coordinators, project officers, and project support staff from the three selected non-governmental organizations. The study would purposively try to draw two hundred twenty-four respondents from three non-governmental organizations who were active in 2022/2023 and make use of primary data using semi-structured questionnaires. Multiple regression models was used to derive the best-fitting model and the degree of association between independent and dependent variables and statistically significant factors were declared at a 95% of confidence interval and p-value of less than 0.05. The findings suggested that although many components of funding are beneficial to project performance, there are some areas—like the timing of fund disbursements and financing requirements have low levels of agreement on their positive impact on project performance. The other finding showed that having well-assessed stakeholder interests in an organization's initiatives and their involvement in project identification with that of top management have a favorable effect on project performance. Finally, the study concluded that Stakeholder involvement and top management support significantly improve the project performance of the non-governmental organizations
