COMPARISON BETWEEN CONVENTIONAL FERTILIZER PRACTICE AND ECO-FRIENDLY FERTILIZER PRACTICES ON PLANT GROWTH AND YIELD OF OKRA (Abelmoschus esculenthus)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Three different fertilizer kinds and combinations—chemical fertilizer, organic pellet fertilizer, and biofilm bio-fertilizers—were used in a plot experiment. Chemical fertilizer 50% + biofilm biofertilizer (50-CF-BF), organic pellet fertilizer 50% + biofilm biofertilizer (50-OF-BF), chemical fertilizer 50% + organic pellet fertilizer 50% (50-CF-50-OF), chemical fertilizer 33% + organic pellet fertilizer 33% + biofilm biofertilizer (33-CF-33-OF-BF), and no fertilizer-control (NC) were the treatments included in the completely randomized design of the experiment, which was conducted in four replicates. One-way ANOVA and LSD for mean separation were used to quantify and statistically analyze important agronomic factors. The results showed that the growth and yield metrics of okra were significantly impacted by various fertilizer combinations and practices compared to the control. According to the findings, okra grew and yielded better under the CF, 50-CF-50-OF, and 33-CF-33-OF-BF treatments, which may help lessen reliance on chemical fertilizers. According to the study's findings, it is advised to use integrated environmentally friendly fertilizer techniques since they may successfully promote sustainable okra farming without sacrificing yield. To validate these findings, more research in the field should be done.
