Abstract: The Assamese nation continues to shine with the legacy of the multifaceted genius Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva. In the words of Madhavdeva, Sankardeva was “the embodiment of all virtues, incomparable to any other.” A study of this great personality’s life reveals that his pursuits were not confined merely to personal salvation; rather, his endeavors encompassed the material, physical, and spiritual upliftment of the entire human race. By acquiring theoretical knowledge of the four Vedas, fourteen Shastras, and eighteen Puranas, he made immense contributions to Assamese language, literature, society, and culture. The present National Education Policy (NEP-2020) too recognizes the importance of a work culture in ensuring the holistic development of students. Realizing that without such a culture, the progress of an individual and society is impossible, the policy emphasizes not only the acquisition of knowledge but also the cultivation of work ethics and practices. Thus, through this paper, an attempt has been made to examine the significant aspects of Srimanta Sankardeva’s philosophy of work culture in light of the new education policy.
