Adaptive Threshold Repair Under Extreme Hazard Profiles Targeted Gradient Repair Mechanism (TGRM) Research — Whitepaper 3

Type: article
Abstract: Traditional repair strategies collapse under compounding hazards, either wasting resources through continuous repair or failing to adapt when stress profiles spike. Previous work demonstrated that the Targeted Gradient Repair Mechanism (TGRM) delivers superior efficiency under normal conditions, extending runtime by up to ~40% compared to baseline. In this third study, we extend the framework to two new dimensions: Extreme hazard environments — clustered spikes, overlapping catastrophes, and long-term bleed conditions. Adaptive thresholds — repair triggers that shift dynamically with system state rather than remaining fixed. Simulation results show that continuous repair breaks down under severe stress, while TGRM maintains stability. Critically, adaptive TGRM outperforms fixed-threshold models, extending runtime further in extreme conditions without proportional increases in repair cost. These findings suggest that adaptive strategies can make TGRM more robust for real-world applications where hazards are stochastic, clustered, and energy budgets are limited — such as autonomous drones, satellites, and biological systems under oxidative stress.
