Artificial Intelligence in Health: Ethics and Legal Regulations

Year: 2024
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Humanity is witnessing a historical period where technological advancement is rapidly reshaping healthcare services. At the heart of this transformation is artificial intelligence (AI), which offers the potential to extend data analysis, pattern recognition, and decisionmaking processes beyond human capacity. From increasing accuracy in diagnostic processes to personalizing treatment protocols, from optimizing operational efficiency to accelerating drug discovery, AI is expanding the boundaries of medical science. The newest and most dynamic actor in this revolution is generative artificial intelligence, which can uniquely produce content such as text, images, and data. This study aims to comprehensively present the current status of artificial intelligence and especially generative artificial intelligence applications in the healthcare sector, the groundbreaking opportunities they offer, and the critical challenges they bring, through an extensive literature review. The rise of Generative AI necessitates not only a technical innovation but also a deep consideration of issues such as ethical norms, patient privacy, data security, and clinical responsibility. Therefore, this text is an effort to build a bridge between the promises of technology and practical and moral realities.
