Prevalencia del uso de nootrópicos en estudiantes de medicina en una escuela privada de Yucatán, México
Year: 2024
Type: preprint
Abstract: The research article examines the prevalence and motivations behind nootropic use among CERT medical students. It is highlighted that a significant percentage of these students turn to nootropics with the aim of improving their academic performance and ability to concentrate. This phenomenon reflects a growing trend toward cognitive optimization within the medical student community. Research reveals that nootropic use is not only motivated by intense academic demands, but also by competitive pressure and the search for advantages in exams and clinical evaluations. This situation raises concerns about potential adverse health effects on students, including risks of dependency, side effects such as insomnia and anxiety, as well as a potential decrease in educational equity if some students have access or resources to use these compounds while others no.
