Abstract: The application of artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine is expected to support the development of this field in many aspects. Launched by OpenAI in November 2022, ChatGPT is the fastest-growing artificial intelligence (AI) application with users as a learning tool in recent times. In veterinary medicine, ChatGPT is a virtual assistant that supports clinical diagnosis, training, and scientific research in the animal health care industry based on information available on the internet. In addition to the advantages, challenges, and limitations of ChatGPT also need to be considered and evaluated such as reliability, copyright issues, and user personal information security issues. Therefore, this review briefly discusses ChatGPT with a focus on its advantages and limitations, with the hope that veterinary students and veterinarians can exploit the power of ChatGPT most effectively, contributing to the development of this field in today's digital transformation society.
