Abstract: Alexandru Marghiloman, a remarkable and popular political figure of modern Romania, stands out as a distinguished aristocrat, with a life marked by contrasts and tumultuous events. Characterized by a moderate conduct and an attitude full of gentleness and devotion, he can be considered a true apostle of public duty, committed to the service of the nation and his fellow men. This study brings to the foreground his philanthropic dimension, manifested in a variety of forms, an essential but lesser-known contemporary aspect of the personality of this important conservative leader, with emphasis on his lasting contribution to education and the wellbeing of his nation.
