Current research status of sulfate use in bowel preparation before colonoscopy
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Colonoscopy is one of the essential methods for intestinal examination, and the quality of bowel preparation directly affects the procedure’s feasibility and diagnostic accuracy. Various bowel-cleansing agents are available clinically, with sulfate (e.g., oral sulfate solution and magnesium sulfate solution) being widely used. Numerous studies have explored the effectiveness of sulfate use in bowel preparation, including comparisons with other bowel-cleansing agents and analyses of different sulfate administration regimens. This review summarizes the current research status of sulfate use in bowel preparation before colonoscopy, based on relevant literature.
