Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The education system in Assam, a northeastern state of India, presents a complex tapestry of achievements and challenges that reflect both regional specificities and broader national educational trends. This study examines the current state of education in Assam, analyzing its historical evolution, structural framework, recent policy interventions, and persistent challenges. Through a comprehensive review of educational indicators, government initiatives, and ground-level realities, this research identifies key areas of progress including increased enrollment rates, infrastructure development, and policy reforms, while highlighting ongoing challenges such as quality concerns, linguistic diversity management, and rural-urban disparities. The findings suggest that while Assam has made significant strides in educational access and equity, sustained efforts are required to address quality issues and ensure inclusive development across all segments of society.
