Experimental and numerical study on mechanical behaviour of embedded studs in double steel plate-concrete composite wall
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The double steel plate-concrete composite (DSC) wall shows good comprehensive performances, high material utilization and construction efficiency, which has been widely used in high-rise buildings, nuclear power plant and other engineering projects. The DSC walls are usually equipped with embedded studs to satisfy the requirements of pipeline laying and equipment installation. Currently, there is limited research on the mechanical behavior of embedded studs in DSC wall, which is insufficient to provide reliable guidance for engineering practices. This study conducts pull-out tests on four specimens with embedded studs in DSC wall to investigate the effects of factors such as the number of studs and the stress level of the steel plate. The failure modes of the embedded stud specimens in the DSC wall are obtained. The load-displacement relationship and bearing performance of the specimens are analyzed. Furthermore, a finite element model is established to elucidate the contributions of the steel plate, concrete, bolts, and studs to the pull-out resistance. Based on parametric analysis, the envelope curve between the reduction ratio of bearing capacity and the stress level of the steel plates of the specimens is proposed, which provides references for engineering design.
