Abstract: This systematic review examines the application of Agile and hybrid project management methodologies in complex manufacturing systems, focusing on risk management effectiveness and cross-functional coordination. Analyzing 50 highly relevant studies from 2013 to 2024, the review studies reveal that hybrid approaches dominate current research, combining Agile flexibility with traditional control mechanisms. Hybrid models improve cross-functional coordination and offer performance benefits, including reduced time-to-market and improved customer satisfaction. However, implementation is hindered by organizational culture resistance (68% of studies), resource constraints (45%), and technical complexity (32%). The review also identifies critical gaps, including limited longitudinal validation studies and overreliance on qualitative assessments. The findings highlight the need for context-specific hybrid strategies, standardized implementation frameworks, and manufacturing-specific risk assessment tools. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies, quantitative comparative analyses, and the investigation of change management practices to advance the theoretical understanding and practical application of hybrid methodologies in manufacturing environments. By addressing these gaps, researchers and practitioners can develop more effective strategies for implementing hybrid approaches and enhancing project outcomes.
