Abstract: This informative booklet presents the key concepts, tools, and outcomes of the CHEK project (Change Toolkit for Digital Building Permit), a Horizon Europe initiative (G.A. No. 101058559) aimed at advancing building permit procedures across the EU. The booklet introduces the concept of Digital Building Permits (DBP), explains the benefits of digitalization, including automation, transparency, and interoperability, and showcases the innovative CHEK tools developed to support this transformation. These include solutions for rule interpretation, BIM-GIS integration, automated compliance checking, digital signatures, and more. The booklet also highlights real-world implementation in four European pilot cities (Lisbon, Ascoli Piceno, Prague, Vila Nova de Gaia), shares testimonials from municipal professionals, and provides guidance for adoption and scalability. Designed for municipalities, professionals, and policymakers, this resource supports the EU-wide transition toward efficient, standards-based permitting practices.
