Abstract: Tamaka Shwasa is a chronic, recurrent respiratory disorder described in Ayurveda, comparable to bronchial asthma in modern medicine.[1] It is characterized by dyspnea, wheezing, and aggravated respiratory distress, especially during night and exposure to cold². Bhrigu Haritaki Avaleha, a polyherbal formulation mentioned in Bhavaprakasha Kasa–Shwasa Chikitsa, is indicated for Kasa and Shwasa.[3] Its ingredients—Kantakari, Haritaki, Shunthi, Maricha, Pippali, Ela, Twak, Nagakeshara, and Tailisha Patra—possess Vata-Kapha hara, bronchodilatory, and rejuvenating actions.[4] This review explores classical references, pharmacological properties, and potential benefits of Bhrigu Haritaki Avaleha in Tamaka Shwasa management.
