Strengthening Digital and Mass Communication to Improve Health Literacy and Combat Misinformation in Nigeria
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Nigeria’s public health challenges are supercharged by communication gaps, especially in rural and low-income communities. Low health literacy and rampant misinformation have repeatedly undermined public health efforts, from vaccination campaigns to disease prevention strategies. To address these issues, the government must enhance digital and mass communication, ensuring access to accurate health information, especially for vulnerable populations. This article explores themes around health literacy and misinformation, examines how communication channels function (mass media and digital), and proposes interventions to improve health outcomes via more inclusive and effective communication.
