Abstract: Access to clean and safe water is fundamentalnot only for human survival but also for environmentalwell-being. Recognizing this, the Government of Indialaunched the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in 2019, aimingto provide functional tap water connections to everyrural household. While the primary objective is toensure water security and improve public health, themission also plays a transformative role in promotingenvironmental sustainability. By emphasizingsustainable water sourcing, rainwater harvesting,groundwater recharge, greywater management, andcommunity-led conservation efforts, JJM fostersresponsible water use and long-term ecologicalbalance.
