Abstract: On example of a real student project the practice of project-oriented education is considered. The project-based training method changes its content and engineering practice. It is able to combine students' curiosity, interest, and research abilities, as well as enhance their ability to analyze and solve real-world problems. A number of problems of project-based training vs traditional learning activities have been identified and discussed. An example of the real project related to the random series analysis and design of software for comparing heat consumption series by convergent cross-mapping is given.
