Total Disruption and Limits of Phenomenology
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This is a transcript of my presentation at the PhD Colloquium within Biannual Conference of the German Society for Phenomenological Research (DGPF), "Crisis and Critique." I attempted to substantiate a simple yet intriguing ambivalence. Just two key theses and a modest promise. First, Husserlian phenomenology, especially the later one, is all about crises – moreover, all-comprehensive, civilizational crises. Second, it’s surprisingly poor in methodology to address such crises. Third, Husserl, however, gives us some hints to overcome this limitation – and I’ll try to do it. Please note that this draft may contain mistakes, inconsistencies, or unpolished arguments. The text is conceived as a part of my upcoming scholarly publication.
