Unit Plan: Ecology of Sudden Oak Death
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This Education Transfer Plan was developed through a Research Experience for Teachers program funded by the National Science Foundation Directorate for Biological Sciences, where teachers conducted summer research in biology laboratories. This Unit Plan was developed within the context of the teacher’s project “Oak Seedling Responses to Drought and Increased Herbivory: The Role of Leaf Surface Area on Plant Survival” working in the Dirzo Lab at Stanford University. Overall, the unit plan connects the teacher's research experience to their classroom through teacher-generated authentic activities that engage students in scientific practices such as making observations, collecting and analyzing data, and making sense of phenomena.
