Abstract: Presently, different anti-diabetic medicines can be prescribed, depending on their mechanism of action for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sulfonylureas have been used extensively in the treatment of type 2 diabetes since about 50 years ago, and still in our times, they constitute an important treatment for this devastating chronic illness. We are thus going to look into some of the available studies on sulfonylureas, in terms of their mechanism of action and glycemic effects.
