Abstract: Ancistrogaster luctuosus Stål, 1855 Ancistrogaster luctuosus (?) Rehn 1901: 219 (♀) [ID error] [n. rec. Jalapa, Vera Cruz and Teocelo, Vera Cruz]. Steinmann 1982: 84; Fig. 22, 23 [from Mexico (?) to Brazil]. Steinmann 1993: 162; Fig. 258–260 [Mexico to Brazil]. Notes. Rehn’s records based on two females are highly doubtful. It is more likely that these correspond to Ancistrogaster spinax Dohrn 1862 (Rehn 1903a: 1). In addition, the identification of A. luctuosus in Maes & Haas (2006) corresponds to A. spinax, as the forceps do not show the apical notch of A. luctuosus (see Steinmann 1993). Not referenced by Sakai (2004).
