Abstract: The Thames Tideway Tunnel project is a deep tunnel system for combined sewer overflow control in London, UK, to improve the health of the tidal River Thames. This paper reports on how the scheme was developed to minimise its impact on the river while also seeking to utilise the river to minimise the impact of the scheme on London’s residents and creating new public realm that fits seamlessly into the river vista and promote the reconnection of Londoners to their river.
