Evaluation of Surya Namaskar and Core Strengthening Exercises on Musculoskeletal Health of Agricultural Students

Type: article
Abstract: Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are a widespread issue among agricultural students due to the physically demanding nature of their academic pursuits, which involve protracted fieldwork, repetitive bending, lifting of heavy tools, and extended periods of standing. These activities have a detrimental effect on students' general health, academic performance, and fieldwork efficiency since they frequently result in back discomfort, joint stiffness, postural abnormalities, and muscle exhaustion. By increasing flexibility, strength, and postural alignment, physical activity interventions in particular, Surya Namaskar (SN) and core strengthening exercises offer promising means of promoting musculoskeletal health. While core strengthening exercises primarily target the abdominal, lumbar, and pelvic muscles to improve spinal stability and functional strength, Surya Namaskar, a dynamic series of twelve yoga postures, promotes joint mobility, muscular endurance, and spinal flexibility. The synergistic benefits of SN and core strengthening exercises on musculoskeletal health in agricultural students are thoroughly theoretically evaluated in this article. The study emphasises how integrating these therapies might lessen musculoskeletal strain, avoid injuries, and foster overall physical fitness by evaluating the literature and examining mechanisms of action. According to the results, incorporating organised exercise programs into agricultural university curricula can promote students' mental and physical health, improve their posture and functional performance, and increase their academic and practical productiveness
