The Right to Claim Compensation as a Result of Leaving Property beyond the Current Borders of the Poland Republic

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article outlines the issue of financial settlements with citizens of the Polish state, the so-called people from beyond the Bug River, who, as a result of the change in the eastern border that took place after World War II, were forced to leave their homes and resettle. Despite the promise of obtaining equivalent compensation for the property left behind in the new place of settlement, most of those entitled to it did not receive it at all or in an incomplete amount. The process of settling these obligations, initiated in 1944 by the so-called republican agreements, despite the passage of over 80 years, still persists.
