Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the significant positive predictors of kaizen success at work in public institutions in Dire Dawa Administration. From 38 government institutions in the Administration, a sample of 344 individuals were drawn from five institutions that were selected by applying systematic random sampling. Once the target organizations for the study were identified, the samples were drawn in a way that ensures equitable selection of informants in proportion with the entire employee in the respective organizations. The tools of data collection for this particular study were close-ended questionnaire and focus group discussion. The questionnaire were checked for reliability and reliability in a pilot study before they were used for the main study. To check if the explanatory variables communication, training, reward and recognition, and top management support have a significant predictive effect on the outcome variable, kaizen success, ordinal logistic regression, a quantitative data analysis method, through SPSS version 20, was used predominantly. Ordinal logistic regression generalized linear model was employed to explain the likelihood of probability of the outcome variable as its features allow us to produce the log-odds to explain likelihood in a precise manner. The other qualitative data generated using the focus group discussion was analyzed qualitatively. By so doing, the researcher was able to use qualitative to strengthen findings obtained by the questionnaire. The analysis made in this way indicated that communication and training are found to be significant positive predictors of ‘good’ performance of kaizen while reward and recognition are not significant predictors of ‘good’ overall success of institutions in Dire Dawa Administration. It also indicated that reward and recognition and top management support were not ‘good’ significant positive predictors of overall success of institutions in the city Administration as a result of kaizen practice. The study also forwarded some recommendations including shift of attention to large-scale studies that would produce stronger results and emphasized the need to promote collaboration with researchers from different places for better exchange of ideas and share existing experiences that further assists in doing attaining additional insights and enhance researching culture about kaizen practice.
