The context of teacher continuing education in a Federal Institute: a focus on Mathematics

Abstract: The teaching performance in Federal Institutes presents specificities that lead to reflections on continuing teacher training in this context. Thus, we aim to find and analyze the possibilities of continuing education for teachers, specifically addressing the area of Mathematics, in the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais, Brazil. Methodologically, we adopted bibliographic and documentary research. As a result, no possibilities of continuing education for mathematics teachers were found that include characteristics such as working in different levels and modalities of teaching. We consider as a gap the need for continuing teacher training that recognizes the particularities of the educational context of the institution, especially in areas such as Mathematics.
