Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study investigates the critical role of leadership competencies in the transformation of safety culture within organizations and the resulting impact on corporate economic growth. By analyzing qualitative data collected from six industrial plants in India, comprising 504 employees, the research identifies twelve core competencies that influence safety behavior and culture. The study emphasizes the transition from reactive to proactive safety strategies and illustrates how embedding zero-harm values into organizational structures not only reduces incidents but also enhances productivity, employee morale, and financial outcomes. The findings reinforce the notion that safety culture and economic performance are intrinsically linked, calling for top-level leadership commitment and strategic integration of safety into corporate objectives.
