Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the human immune system. If not detected or treated promptly, it can progress to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). In Indonesia, a total of 427,201 HIV cases have been reported. HIV/AIDS is prevalent among the adolescent age group. Adolescents often lack sufficient knowledge and information about reproductive health, leading to risky behaviors. Knowledge plays a crucial role in preventing HIV/AIDS. Object: This study aims to describe the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents regarding HIV/AIDS. The research employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. A total of 59 respondents were included in the study using a total sampling technique. Results: The results showed that, out of 59 respondents, the majority had good knowledge (34 respondents, 58%), adequate knowledge (21 respondents, 35%), and poor knowledge (4 respondents, 7%). Regarding attitudes, most respondents displayed moderately positive attitudes (29 respondents, 49%), positive attitudes (24 respondents, 41%), and negative attitudes (6 respondents, 10%). Conclusion: The majority of students had good knowledge about HIV/AIDS, and most exhibited moderately positive attitudes.
