Follow-Up Ground Observations of TESS Object of Interest 3841.01

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The NASA TESS mission aims to detect possible candidate exoplanets by detecting dips in host star luminosity. Follow-up ground telescope observations are required to verify whether candidates are actual exoplanets. These follow-up observations are intended to verify whether a Tess Object of Interest (TOI) 3841.01 is a true exoplanet using the transit method. This is achieved via plotting the target star luminosity over time and adjusting for reference star luminosity and background noise (ergo cloud cover, telescope defects, atmospheric oddities, etc.). Light curve data, specifically a dip within the predicted transit window, verifies that TOI-3841.01 is likely a true exoplanet. Although this result seems promising, there are some apparent discrepancies in the relative flux after the transit window, therefore it is advisable that more data be gathered before reaching any definitive conclusions on the characteristics of TOI-3841.01.
