Ground-based Light Curve Follow-up Validation Observations of TESS Object of Interest TOI 6215.01

Type: article
Abstract: On October 10, 2023, a ground-based follow-up of the TESS Object of Interest TOI 6215.01 was taken using the George Mason University 0.8 m telescope (R filter). 255 science frames were collected which were subsequently reduced with darks and flats, followed by aperture photometry with AstroImageJ. We obtained enough precision to at least measure the expected 8.9 ppt transit depth.. Unfortunately, we only caught the second half of transit and therefore our measured depth of ~4.17 ppt was not consistent with the measurement by TESS. However, since our light curve did not look like a transit, we believe that TOI 6215.01 is a false positive, not a real exoplanet candidate. However, further studies in full-transit observation and high-resolution imaging should be conducted to confirm this is not an astrophysical false positive.
