TESS Ground Based Follow-Up Observations of TOI 5907.01
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study looks at TOI 5907.01, a planet candidate first found by NASA’s TESS mission in 2022. According to TESS, it is a large planet that orbits very close to its star, completing one orbit in just 0.66 days and having a size about 8.3 times that of Earth. To check this candidate, we observed it from the George Mason University Observatory and measured its brightness using AstroImageJ. We made a light curve to see if the star’s light dipped like a planet transit. Our results show a small dip that lines up with what we would expect from a planet. The shape of the dip and the low scatter in the data suggest that it is not caused by other stars or measurement errors. While we cannot confirm TOI 5907.01 is a planet yet, these observations support the idea that it might be. More follow-up observations would help refine the planet’s orbit and confirm its presence.
