Abstract: This issue explores the implications of MOIP for regional development, drawing on theory, empirical research and case studies to examine how national missions are translated into local action. It seeks to bridge the gap between high-level mission frameworks and the regional institutions that are vital for their success, highlighting both opportunities and risks in the evolving relationship between place and purpose in innovation policy.
